The UDA participates in an international project for a master in climate change

The international cooperation project to carry out a "Master in climate change, agriculture and sustainable rural development-MACCARD", in which the University of Azuay participates, was officially launched.

The initiative is coordinated by the University of Sassari and is co-financed by the European Union within the framework of the Erasmus Plus Capacity Building in Higher Education program.

“The UDA is working more than two years in the structuring and presentation of the project, in 2019 we were notified that the allocation of funds was won; The project officially started in January 2020 and lasts for 3 years ”, explained Mateo Coello, from the Postgraduate Department. 

This research master's degree, which addresses the subject of climate change and rural development, should be offered in 2022.

The university works in conjunction with five other higher education institutions: Universidad Toribio Rodríguez de Mendoza (UNTRM) and Universidad Nacional de Jaén (UNJ) in Peru, Universidad Regional del Amazonas (IKIAM) in Ecuador, Universidad de Sassari (UNISS) in Italy and the University of Granda (UGR) in Spain.

The project aims to contribute to the training of professionals capable of carrying out studies, planning and implementing effective measures to respond to the challenges and threats of climate change in crucial sectors for Ecuador and Peru, and at the same time strengthen cross-border cooperation between institutions. of higher education of both South American countries among themselves and with the countries of the European Union.
