The UDA inaugurates its Baños Campus on the bicentennial of Cuenca

With the presence of Francisco Salgado, Rector of the University of Azuay; Pedro Palacios, Mayor of the city of Cuenca, and Eliana Bojorque, Rector of the La Asunción Educational Unit, the new Campus UDA Baños was inaugurated on the bicentennial of the capital of Azuaya.

The inauguration ceremony was also attended by Marco Pérez Caicedo, Archbishop and Chancellor of the UDA; Andrea Encalada, delegate of the Governor of Azuay; Juan Cordero and Mario Jaramillo, forgers of the UDA, and the vice-rectors of our institution, Martha Cobos and Jacinto Guillén, among other guests.

"The patrimony of the University of Azuay does not belong to an economic or religious group, but rather it is part of the city", mentioned the Rector of the UDA, who highlighted that the social management - which is done with the participation of the community- has allowed the creation of this new campus.

Construction of the new site, which began two years ago, has more than 100 classrooms for 4.000 students, 15 laboratories, a coliseum with a capacity of 1.500 people, courts, parking lots, a library and food areas.

At the inauguration, a recognition was given to Felipe Andrade, director of the UDA Baños Bicentennial Campus project, and to the main teacher Manuel Ponce for leading the body of workers.

"This work is a reflection of love for the city and the country, where our youth and children are committed to discovering an education that opens new doors to progress and training," said Archbishop Marco Pérez Caicedo.

For his part, Mayor Pedro Palacios said that "Cuenca continues to consolidate itself as a university city, with these types of projects that promote education."

The new campus promises both the students of the Colegio Asunción and the community of the University of Azuay an environment that incorporates the latest technologies, as well as an aesthetic and contemporary design.
