The UDA delivers a square, two trailers and housing proposals for victims in Canoa

This 15 held in February at the University of Azuay, within the framework of the program "Solidarity actions with those affected by the Earthquake in Ecuador", delivered a square and two trailers to transport food products to 17 families in Canoa, province of Manabí.

In the name of the victims, Diana Moscoso, representative of the Inti Corporation and one of the heads of Camp Samán, where the families live, received.

Moscoso also received a CD with proposals for social housing for both Canoa and Camp Samán prepared by the School of Architecture.

Narcisa Ullauri, Liaison Coordinator of the UDA, said at the beginning of the act that this kind of projects are those that change the world: "Improving the quality of life of an area that suffered an earthquake are those kinds of actions that remind us that we continue being human. "

Immediately after, Francisco Salgado, Rector of the University, took the floor, recalling the words of Monseñor Proaño, who said that one always talks about poverty from afar:

"I think of the example given us by Diana Moscoso, a former student of ours, who is living there with the victims of the Saman Project, almost one year after the disaster. And I also want to thank our students, who have made this project possible. "

Four representatives of the two courses of Production Engineering and Operations and Automotive Engineering attended the delivery.

"We are only four here but there were many people behind this, many details that took time and effort, but it is a goal fulfilled for all," said student Pedro Burbano.

Mateo Coello, Coordinator of the School of Automotive Engineering, pointed out that teachers and students of his School -and others such as Graphic Design, Communication, Design of Objects and Architecture- have had the good fortune to travel to the Camp and personally meet people that they live there

"One generates very nice ties with people; there are many dreams, a lot of desire to get ahead and for us it is a joy to be able to contribute with this ".

With regard to the proposals of the School of Architecture, Manuela Cordero, Liaison Coordinator of the Faculty of Design, said that the work was carried out within the framework of the Minga Lab, a project that has been in the School for some time.

"Seven chairs joined forces to achieve an urban-architectural proposal for Canoa, and particularly for the Samán Camp, a proposal for social, single-family and multifamily housing."

Finally, Diana Moscoso, representative of the Camp, said that she grew up in the UDA, first in the Asunción School and then in the University, "and I know that the UDA is a real community that can strengthen other communities."

“This has continuity, in development issues nothing can be archived, so all that remains is to build; the same with this square, which in addition to trailers will pull a mobile educational unit throughout the area, ”said Moscoso.
