On December 7, the 2023 Festival of Lights was held in the Plaza de Santo Domingo, to celebrate the ninetieth anniversary of the canonical coronation of the Virgin Morenica del Rosario in Cuenca.

The meeting was attended by authorities, families, boys and girls from the city. The entire Cuenca dressed up to celebrate the Virgen Morenica del Rosario and together they lit the lanterns that were in the square.

In this event, the University of Azuay played a fundamental role, both its teachers and students from the Faculty of Design, Architecture and Art, corresponding to the Graphic and Product Design majors, designed the allegories that were in the square. , taking as reference the Virgin Morenica, her mantle and crown.

The University placed around 6.000 lanterns, which formed the silhouette of the Morenica Virgin, an image full of tenderness and symbolism.

Without a doubt, the participation of our students has contributed to the festival of lights with design to illuminate this beautiful festival with art.
