Jean-Baptiste Chauvin, Honorary Professor of the UDA

On July 13, in the Hall of Honor of the University of Azuay, he was appointed honorary professor of the Jean-Baptiste Chauvin University, ambassador of France in Ecuador.

The event began with the intonation of the notes of the National Anthem of Ecuador and after this the Anthem of France, as a symbol of diplomatic relationship between the musical notes of these two countries.

“Recognizing the service of Jean-Baptiste Chauvin is an honor for this academic institution, it should also be noted that it is a perfect moment since tomorrow, July 14, is the National Day of France, also the last day of his function as ambassador to the country, ”said Rector Francisco Salgado at the beginning of the event.

The Rector highlighted that Ambassador Chauvin made possible the current space that the French Alliance occupies in Cuenca: "Cuenca once wanted to be Paris, France is and will be present in Cuenca's culture, infrastructure and memory."

Jean-Baptiste Chauvin has a diploma from the National School of Administration, he also has a master's degree in Modern Literature and another in Public Administration, he has extensive diplomatic experience and has been decorated as a Knight of the Legion of Honor and Knight of the National Order of the Merit.

To conclude, the ambassador indicated that the event was very emotional for him since it was his last visit to Cuenca in his functions as representative of France.

"I always had a lot of affection for the Academy, because I know that academic ties between countries are what really unite nations," he added.

Chauvin said that this will be the connection that will mark his life and he will always relate to the beautiful Cuenca.
