The electoral process for the election of the UDA authorities began

On November 12, the University Council called the elections of Rector, Academic Vice-Rector and Vice-Rector for Research of the University of Azuay for the period 2022 - 2027, in order to elect the new authorities that will govern the management and direction of the University .

"In view of the conclusion of the period of the current authorities that were inaugurated in January 2017, the Law requires the appointment of the new authorities that will govern for a period of five years," said Franklin Bucheli, President of the Electoral Council. of the University.

Among the requirements that candidates for Rector and Academic Vice-Rector must meet were to have an academic degree of doctor (PhD or its equivalent), have experience of at least five years in university educational management, and have published at least six relevant works or indexed articles in your field of specialty.

On November 18, the two candidates qualified by the Electoral Council were officially published. List No. 1 called “Our UDA” is identified by the colors orange and blue. Francisco Salgado, current Rector of the University, as a candidate for the rector's office; Genoveva Malo to Academic Vice-Rector, Raffaella Ansaloni as candidate for Vice-Rector for Research.

List No. 2 is called “A UDA. Joy returns, pride returns ”characterized by the colors red and white. For candidate to Rector Cecilia Ugalde; Academic Vice Chancellor Daniel Cordero, and Ana Lucía Pacurucu for the position of Vice Chancellor for Research.

On December 3, elections will be held from 8:00 a.m. to 17:00 p.m. at the Central Campus of the University. Voting is mandatory for full professors, regular undergraduate or graduate students who have approved a number of credits equivalent to the first year of studies, and for all workers with an indefinite employment contract with the institution.

"Voting is mandatory for those who meet the requirements as voters, they are the ones on the electoral roll, there is until November 25 the possibility that if someone is not on the roll, they will be rectified," said Bucheli.

The percentage of votes of teachers corresponds to 70% of the total of the calculation, 25% that of students, while the remaining 5% corresponds to the vote of administrators.
