Inauguration of the Design Gallery

The Faculty of Design of the Universidad del Azuay inaugurated on Thursday December 16 a gallery in which both students and professors will be able to exhibit their creations.

The opening event began with the musical presentation of the Cuenca artist Diego Zamora and the saxophonist Sebastián Sardi.

Subsequently, the Dean of the Faculty of Design, Fabián Landívar, addressed those present and pointed out that this space is not something whimsical on the part of the Faculty, but rather it is a place in which artistic works will be valued by the community university.

"Creativity is our ally, its presence in this laboratory has the objective of reinventing knowledge, this is manifested in the capacity and freedom of the human being to build himself", Landívar concluded.

The rector of the University of Azuay, Carlos Cordero, congratulated the Faculty of Design and its authorities for this initiative.

"For me, it is very pleasant to inaugurate this gallery where everyone can demonstrate their creativity in a formal way," Cordero said.

The closing of the event was in charge of the musicians Germán and Nino Bravo.

Simultaneously, in the Patio de Diseño, the students of this Faculty held their fifth fair with more than 40 exhibitors, among students and alumni.

The fair -organized by the Student Association- took place between the 15 and the 17 in December and pieces were sold in ceramics, notebooks with personalized designs, candles, lamps, garments, among many other items.
