"We have shown our ability to adapt"

On July 24, the School of Environmental Engineering organized the talk "Environmental engineering and the new development paradigms" by Professor Pablo Guzmán, doctor in biosciences and engineering.

Guzmán agreed to this interview with the Campus to explain why it is so relevant to talk about this topic, even more so in these times of Covid-19.

“When we talk about new development paradigms, we are referring to the initiatives that are emerging from the pandemic, specifically in their application and specific conceptualization, rather than in the general idea.

The general idea is still sustainable development

We choose the theme because we see disconnections between the ideas or statements of development and the training and research responses in our environment, and we want to show the role of Environmental Engineering in achieving development, and invite reflection in other areas

I can specifically mention the case of Amsterdam that decided to bet on the model known worldwide.

We have shown our ability to adapt and respond as academia and society.

Virtuality opened new horizons to share content and experiences, now we have the possibility of reaching and accessing previously limited spaces, however, they lag behind in spaces where digital connectivity is limited ”.
