France and Ecuador, a common story

On March 17, at the facilities of the French Alliance and the House of Services to Society of the University of Azuay, the opening of the photographic exhibition was held: “French cooperation in Ecuador, a common history”.

The event was organized by the UDA, the French Embassy in Ecuador, the French Alliance of Cuenca and the French Development Agency (AFD).

The objective of the exhibition was to celebrate the fifth anniversary of AFD in Ecuador, which during this time has developed activities in sectors such as: energy, transportation, social development, water and sanitation, among others.

Clotilde Boutrolle, Director of AFD in Ecuador, indicated that all the activities carried out have been carried out with “a strong climate and social focus”.

He also indicated that French cooperation in Ecuador "has integrated a more technical dimension with the vision of building conditions for a more sustainable and humane development."

According to Mateo Estrella, President of the French Alliance, "the photographic exhibition portrays in a didactic way the various tasks with which France collaborates with Ecuador"

François Sow, Counselor for Cooperation and Cultural Action of the French Embassy, ​​pointed out that Franco-Ecuadorian cooperation is the fruit of “a long history in common” that began with the geodesic missions:

"Scientific missions are the founding cradle of our almost three-hundred-year-old cooperation."

The opening remarks were given by Francisco Salgado, Rector of the UDA, who highlighted the tradition of French culture "rooted in the Cuenca spirit."

Finally, the Dance Company of the UDA made a presentation.
