Family Medicine Fair

The 26 April took place the Fair of Family Medicine in the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Azuay.

Among the invited authorities were the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine of the Catholic University of Cuenca, Susana Peña; the Director of the Graduate of Family Medicine of the University of Azuay, Pedro Martínez, and authorities of the 6 Zonal Coordination that is made up of the provinces of Azuay, Cañar and Morona Santiago.

"The fair deals with two main issues, the first one is salutogenesis, which implies making people aware, before the disease, of the prevention and conservation of health; the second is the role of the family doctor within the health system of the country, "said Pedro Martínez.

"A doctor for life" was what Dr. Martinez was able to say when referring to a family doctor, adding that the bond that is created between a family doctor and the patient lasts generations.

The guests of the fair were the undergraduate medicine students of the UDA, the State University and the Catholic University.

Nutrition and health were also included within the themes of the fair, with the dissemination of various recipes for a healthy diet that contributes to the prevention of diseases.

Finally, a round table was held with the invited authorities to discuss the health system at the national level.

Each authority had a specific time to analyze questions and provide solutions to the problems raised.
