Fausto Ordoñez, director of CIDAP, highlighted the importance of the academic endorsement of the University in international conferences and workshops.

Genoveva Malo, Dean of the Faculty, stated that to speak of design and crafts “is to speak of a duo with a soul, it is to live culture in one of its most loaded manifestations of the noble traces of human endeavor, such as creating symbols, objects , artifacts, ways of living, producing, ways of weaving life and transforming our habitat ”.

The inaugural event featured a fashion show and an exhibition of experimental clothing and textiles; Emerging designers, experienced designers and students participated.

"Our career in Textiles and apparel, pioneer in the country, unique in the city, has become a benchmark for designers who have given name to a new profession that was built on the solid foundations of identity," said the Dean.

Silvia Zeas, Coordinator of the Textile and Clothing Design career, who was in charge of the organization, said that the concept was to present typical catwalk outfits, casual fashion and conceptual fashion on a stage full of color, fabrics and textures.

The costumes were designed and made by Ismael Jiménez, Diego Peña, Marcela Cedillo, Silvia Zeas and Cristian Jarama, as well as four students with conceptual costumes from the seventh cycle of the race.

In the gallery of the Faculty a sample of textile pieces was installed that was visited by those who attended the event and remains open for those who wish to admire this important work of the students. This sample collects experimental works that explore traditional weaving techniques with new materials that were collected from the immediate environment.
