Students of the UDA work with children affected by the Manabí earthquake

Students and professors from the fields of Social Communication and International Studies, led by Professor Anne Carr, traveled to Canoa, Manabí at the beginning of December, to carry out the project to strengthen the children's ability to act before, during and after of a natural disaster.

Field research was conducted through focus groups with children of different ages from the Algarrobos School. The project that was carried out is similar to an initial test that was carried out in New Zealand.

It should be noted that the children showed to be prepared for any situation of natural disaster, their experiences were told to the guides of the focal groups.

"It was a great experience for me to go to Canoa and be part of this research, I got a great impression of the school in which we conducted the focus groups." All the children interviewed are extremely intelligent and prepared to face any type of problem. natural disaster, "said Paul Domínguez, one of the students who participated in the experience.

Lizbeth Tuza, another student, concluded: "We were surprised at how much children know about this type of disaster and how well prepared they are."
