Tourism student wins national scholarship to travel to France

Soledad Ortiz Correa, a student of the Engineering degree in Tourism, has been a national beneficiary of a paid internship of two months in tourism, hotels and gastronomy in France, granted by the Embassy of France in Ecuador.

Soledad went through a process in which a committee evaluated the candidates rigorously, was pre-selected and finally had a successful interview via Skype, after which she was notified of her selection.

"I learned of the scholarship through the School Coordinator, Natalia Rincon, who had received the information from Cecilia Ugalde, Director of the Department of International Relations," said Soledad.

Soledad, one of the three students selected at the national level, is planning her trip for the months of August and September.

The scholarship covers a monthly allowance of 795 euros, in addition the internship may or may not be remunerated, medical insurance and financial assistance for accommodation.

"I feel very happy to be able to leave. I lived two years in France before starting the University in Cuenca, so for me it is a great opportunity to be able to return to such a beautiful country and more now that it will not be for vacations but for something that will contribute to my professional development ".

The Department of International Relations congratulated Soledad and encouraged the university community to review the calls shared by the department through its Facebook account @rriiuda.

"I think tourism is one of the most important industries today that opens the doors to the whole world and I am more confident than ever that tourism was the best option for me," concluded the student.
