Delivery of cabins for COVID-19 sampling

The University of Azuay made the delivery of cabins for the protection of the personnel of the Ecuadorian health system, this project was executed between the HUB iTT Sur and the support of the Secretariat of Higher Education, Science, Technology and Innovation (SENESCYT)

Twenty protection booths will be allocated to various parts of the country, where it is necessary for health personnel to be protected to take COVID-19 samples.

Francisco Salgado, Rector of the University of Azuay, expressed his gratitude to the Faculty of Design, Architecture and Art for the development of this initiative that began in April of last year.

“This solution is very concrete, a true innovation. They are very creative, very important ideas that have served and will serve a large number of people. It is a way to demonstrate how the University of Azuay can contribute to society, through these projects that are promoted by State bodies ”, added the Rector.

Genoveva Malo, Dean of the Faculty, said for her part that “there are projects that fill our souls and make us feel that we can contribute from different spaces, decisively, with work and with a lot of heart to improve health conditions, minimize risks. , and why not save lives ”.

José Luis Fajardo, project director, indicated that the approximate measurements of the cabins are 90 cm X 90 cm and two meters high, and described their design:

“The cabins are designed with versatile and easily mobile elements. They have an aluminum structure, a suggestive system of sleeves with antifluid fabrics, with acrylic protection, an internal wiring for LED light and ventilation. Also, supports for medical equipment give form to a completely hermetic and safe cabin ”.
