The value of reading to expand the mind and connect knowledge with Prof. Nuno Crato and Mgst. Diana Castellanos

On September 12, we had the honor of celebrating the second Academic Reflection Day under the title "Fundamental Principles for Education." This event was aimed at our university community and had the outstanding participation of two distinguished experts in the educational field: Diana Castellanos, Deputy Minister of Education and Nuno Crato, former Minister of Education and Science of Portugal.

Their presence gave us the opportunity to enter an exciting world of knowledge and educational experiences.

The second day of this event focused on the importance of reading, both in our daily lives and in academia. Furthermore, we explore Crato's enriching perspective on the Portuguese educational context. During this meeting, it became clear how reading not only constitutes an essential tool for acquiring knowledge, but also represents an inexhaustible source of personal and cultural enrichment.

Reading, as Castellano pointed out, is the master key to education that allows us to guarantee this “learning to learn” throughout life. This statement highlights the importance of promoting reading as a fundamental pillar in the formation of individuals committed to continuous learning.

Likewise, Crato mentioned that "the critical spirit arises from substantive knowledge." This reflection urges us to rethink the way we teach, learn and evaluate in an educational context marked by the growing influence of technology. The transformation of education requires a commitment to adaptation and constant innovation.

This exchange of experiences and perspectives deeply enriched the dialogue and collaboration among attendees, fostering a stronger understanding of education and its implications in the international context. The second Academic Reflection Day was a significant step towards a brighter and more enriching educational future.
