International Day of Happiness: a look from the psychological field

On March 20, the International Day of Happiness is celebrated, it is one of the central themes within the field of psychology, as an object of study, reflection and practice for psychologists and people around the world.

From a psychological perspective, happiness is a global experience of well-being, influenced by various internal and external factors, both conscious and unconscious.

In this field, Fernanda Coello, professor of Clinical Psychology at the University of Azuay, points out that self-esteem and self-acceptance play a key role in the search for happiness, where it must be a construct or personal identity that carries the person to enjoy activities and situations in daily life.

He also points out that there are different elements that come together in happiness and the vehicle to achieve it is self-esteem, where the perception one has of oneself, the recognition of one's abilities and the way in which this is shown to others is extremely important.

Regarding the psychological practices recommended to promote happiness in daily life, some can be highlighted, for example, stress management is essential to live more fully and calmly; An also important aspect is to regulate and channel negative emotions, working on self-control and thus improving quality of life.

Thus, the search for happiness is a daily work that motivates and strengthens personal development and community life.
