Parade-party Textgala 2019

On Friday 31 in May the TextGala 2019 parade was held in Quinta Lucrecia, organized by the School of Textile and Clothing Design, within the framework of the Pattern Making Chair of the sixth cycle.

The event began with a presentation of contemporary dance and then the models paraded down the catwalk displaying replicas of haute couture dresses.

Ruth Galindo, Pattern Teacher, explains that during the learning process students choose a red carpet design, since the important thing is that the student is passionate about its design.

The work of the students lasted about two months for each of the dresses, from their selection. In total 27 dresses were made, one for each student.

"Through this work the students are able to demonstrate their skills for pattern making, most of the dresses are haute couture. This is a perfect opportunity to demonstrate what has been learned, "says Freddy Galves, Coordinator of the School.

For Ariana Saquisili, student of Textile Design, it was really a challenge to recreate dresses of such recognized designers, with a long trajectory of work from behind, but she explains that this experience has helped them to forge to be professionals and feel closer to the goal of becoming designers.

The event that was born six years ago in the classrooms has become a tradition; in this edition he had special guests as exreinas of beauty of the city and recognized characters of the world of fashion in Cuenca. Also, family members, friends and fashion supporters were present who filled the room to witness the event.

The evening was very emotional for both students' families and teachers, as they shared the work that has been done in the classroom evidenced in high quality garments.

To finish, Ruth Galindo was honored by her students, who expressed words of thanks and affection. Then there was the celebration party among the guests.
