From the Threshold: Book Presentation

On June 12, the University of Azuay and its publishing house presented the book "Desde el umbral" by author Juan Tama Márquez; an event in line with the Sustainable Development Goals.
The event was attended by authorities, faculty, administrative staff, and students from our university community, city officials, family and friends of the author, and the general public.
This work is not the result of a journey through the narrow corridors of his mother's and grandparents' house, amid books and papers. It is a journey filled with memories of his youth, his university years, the awards he received, and his first jobs. In this book, Juan Tama recapitulates his political life at a particularly critical moment in Ecuador's recent history.
The event began with remarks by Francisco Salgado, rector of the University of Azuay, who emphasized the importance of this day, not only for the large audience participation but also for the significance of Juan Tama's work for the city and the country. In his speech, he highlighted the value of academia and that books represent one of the most significant intellectual expressions of humankind.
The book was presented by José Chalco Quezada, dean of the Faculty of Law, who mentioned the importance of giving space to the ideas expressed in a book. He noted that, from the first pages, the author shares his experiences with honesty and simplicity, constructing a narrative based on a truthful and objective approach.
The official launch was conducted by the author, who addressed the audience, expressing his gratitude for the previous contributions. He acknowledged that the analyses presented not only accurately reflected the book's content but also captured the message and experiences he had hoped to share with readers.
