Victims of the Ecuadorian earthquake are trained in the UDA

26 victims of the earthquake of the past 16 of April in the Ecuadorian coast arrived at the University of Azuay to carry out various trainings in the workshop of the School of Automotive Engineering.

After the visit of teachers from this School to Camp Samán, raised by non-governmental organizations in Canoa after the earthquake of 7.8 degrees, the inhabitants of that camp interested in learning auto mechanics techniques came to Cuenca to practice in the workshops of the UDA.

Since last year, the University has maintained several projects related to the Campamento Samán that involve its Schools of Communication, Graphic Design, Architecture and Design of Objects, as well as Automotive.

This Friday, January 20, the Rector of the UDA, Francisco Salgado, welcomed them and assured that the arrival of the victims for training at the University is not "an occasion visit" but part of a long-term commitment.

In the same line, the Dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology, Andrés López, told the newcomers that the doors of the Faculty are open to contribute with these workshops to the economic reactivation of all the Manabite families that they represent.

During the event, Mateo Coello, a professor at the School of Automotive Engineering, showed the Rector the square that the UDA students are preparing to take Samán with the aim of transporting informal sales positions of products and thus contribute to the micro-enterprises in the area.

The visitors will return to Canoa next Sunday and another multidisciplinary mission of the UDA will travel to the Camp in February.
