Culminated the XV Festival of Performing Arts School Cuenca is Young

Between the 29 and the 31 in May, the XV Festival of Performing Arts Cuenca Cuenca is Young in the Auditorium of the Universidad del Azuay.

The event, organized by the Theater Arts School in conjunction with the Culture Unit of the UDA, was attended by more than a dozen schools, including representations of Paute, Cañar and Azogues.

The participating entities were Brother Miguel La Salle, Asunción, Providencia (Azogues), Corel, Oblates, Salesian Technician (Paute), Salesian Technician, City of Cuenca, Herlinda Toral, Andrés F. Córdova (Cañar), Liceo Cristiano and the Balleti Academy .

"This is the main festival in the region of promotion of performing arts at the youth level," said Jaime Garrido, Coordinator of the School of Theater Arts of the Faculty of Design.

This event also seeks to invite all students interested in theater to study theater art at the University of Azuay.

During the days of the festival, four to five daily presentations were made by the different guest schools that ventured into different artistic branches such as theater, dance, ballet and folklore.

On the last day, the awarding of the works and the best performers was made.  

The mention as best actor went to Franklin Calderón from the Andrés F. Córdoba School and as best actress to María Clara Vintimilla from the La Asunción Educational Unit.

The best contemporary dance dancer was Fernando Sarmiento from the Salesian Technical Educational Unit and the best contemporary dance dancer was Katherine Torres from the Corazón de María Private Educational Unit.

As the best folk dance dancer, Nelson Salinas from the National School of Cuenca City was recognized and as the best dancer in that specialty, Evelyn Suma from the same school was awarded.

The award for the best work selected by the public went to the 17 Nickname of La Asunción Educational Unit and in the "academies" category, the Balleti Academy was recognized.

The prize for the best folk dance work went to the Heart of Maria Oblatas with the work Warmy Kinty, while in contemporary dance the work Los Niños Pintores by Brother Miguel La Salle was chosen.

Finally, the prize for the best play was for the 17 Nickname.
