On September 27, the Institute for Sectional Regime Studies of Ecuador (IERSE) of the University of Azuay began the Photogrammetry II course.

The objective of the course was to “contribute to the care of water sources by training the staff of FONAPA and other public entities such as ETAPA, in the use and taking of aerial photographs for the generation of orthophotos and the use of spectral images, as well as the download and prosecution in the remote sensing trafficking ”, as Ricardo Rodas, one of the program's instructors, mentioned in an interview.

The event was given thanks to an agreement between the University of Azuay and FONAPA, by which it has been agreed to carry out a 126-hour course in 6 modules. This is the second time the module has been taught, which was made up of 3 instructors, 9 participants and lasted 25 hours divided into 5 days.

The program was developed in person, with practices in the field and satellite image downloads. In addition, it worked with the SDGs (United Nations Sustainable Development Goals), especially with: clean water and sanitation, sustainable cities and communities, and the life of terrestrial ecosystems.

“Different types of products were used for the analysis of coverage changes, reflectance analysis of plant species, differential GPS; The use of drones was also discussed so that the course participants are aware of how the new technological tools are used that help us because we can greatly reduce the time to collect information in the field ”, says Rodas.
