How We're Doing Basin: signing of the project's charter

On April 07, the University of Azuay signed the Charter of the "Cuenca Cómo Vamos" Project, an event in line with the Sustainable Development Goals.

The event was attended by authorities and faculty from our university community, officials and members of various city institutions, and the general public.

The Cities How We're Doing model is a citizen monitoring exercise that periodically and systematically evaluates the quality of life in cities and local governments' compliance with their Development Plans, using objective indicators and citizen perceptions.

The event began with remarks by Francisco Salgado, rector of the University of Azuay, who highlighted the importance of development in the contemporary world through community, focusing on the care of life and society. He expressed his pleasure at being part of this promotional group so that more institutions can join this initiative for a better future.

Daniela Chacón, executive director of the TANDEM Foundation, addressed the audience, mentioning that this model emerged as a collaborative effort to generate reliable technical information so that cities can base their decisions on evidence, creating more participatory and active spaces in society.

Felipe Ochoa, Director of International Relations and Cooperation for the Municipality of Cuenca, also highlighted the initiative of the University and other institutions in this project, where the data obtained will be of great contribution to the city's development.

At the end of the interventions, the signing of the constitutive act of the aforementioned project took place.
