Polyphonic choir of the UDA participates in the events for Easter

The 28 and 29 days of March, as part of the events to commemorate Holy Week, the Polyphonic Choir of the University of Azuay - along with the Youth Choir of the José María Rodríguez Conservatory and the Cuenca Symphony Orchestra - participated in the music concerts sacral that took place in the church of Todos Santos.

The works performed were Gabriel Fauré's Requiem and Anton Bruckner's Te Deum, both with an approximate duration of 30 minutes each.

"The requiem of Fauré and the te deum of Bruckner were already performed in the 2011 year with the director of that time, but the work now of the two choirs that are under my direction is superior to the one that existed at the time and everything is thanks to the work of vocal technique ", commented Maria Eugenia Arias, director of the participating choirs.

The Polyphonic Choir of the Universidad del Azuay was prepared on its own from the month of January and from the first week of March with the Youth Choir of the José María Rodríguez Conservatory.

"They were rehearsals every day, from Sunday to Sunday, of three and a half hours approximately, but all the effort and fatigue was reflected in the two magnificent presentations we had," said Belén Astudillo, a member of the Polyphonic Choir of the University of Azuay

In total, 61 choristers and 51 orchestra musicians participated in the two presentations.
