Conversation "8M: challenges and advances in the fight for gender equality"

On March 07, the University of Azuay, together with its Faculty of Psychology, the Department of Equity and Gender, and the Department of Continuing Education, held the discussion "8M: challenges and advances in the fight for gender equality"; an event in harmony with the Sustainable Development Goals.

The event was attended by authorities, teachers, administrative staff and students from our university community.

The event was held in commemoration of International Women's Day, celebrated on March 08, a date that not only invites us to reflect on the achievements made, but also on the challenges that still persist in the fight for gender equality.

The welcoming remarks were made by Francisco Salgado, rector of the University of Azuay, who highlighted that the majority of the members of the board of directors are women, which reflects the University's efforts to promote a fully flourishing community and contribute to gender equality. He also expressed his gratitude to all the people who made this space possible.

Following her speech, the presentation of certificates from the "Transforma Mujer" program took place.

Finally, the discussion was started by Ximena Chocho, Johana Ochoa and Ximena Guerrero, moderated by María Paz Jara. During the dialogue, the aspects that still require improvement in terms of gender equality were addressed, as well as the challenges that persist in this area.
