Proposal contest to reactivate the economy after Covid-19

On December 6, within the framework of the events for the 51 years of the Faculty of Administration Sciences, the School of Economics presented the best works of the fourth essay contest "Proposals to Reactivate the Post-Pandemic Economy."

63 essays were submitted to the contest, which were evaluated by nine renowned economists and teachers from the Faculty of Administration Sciences based on a rubric that rated the strength of the arguments and the proposal, as well as the clarity in the wording.

"The reactivation of the economy is a great challenge and in the Economics career Macroeconomics, Economic Policy, Economic Growth are studied, as well as a set of quantitative analysis subjects that offers young people tools for the analysis of economic problems", indicated Silvia Mejía, professor of the career, and added:

“The solution to these problems must be particularly technical, although many proposals go through political decisions; for this reason, young people debate aspects such as seeking to lower interest rates, encourage the popular and solidarity economy and credit or a more efficient State action based on the lessons that other crises have left ".

The three best essays were exhibited in the auditorium.

First place went to Christopher León and María José Cando with the essay “Policies for the economic reactivation of Ecuador from the New Deal”.

In second place were Andrés Calle and Lisseth Zambrano with the work “The Ecuadorian Credit System as a Mechanism for Economic Reactivation”.

The third place went to Esteban Maldonado and Álvaro Miranda with the text “Reduction of Taxes to promote consumption and production”.
