The program of "Environmental Legislation and Water Governance" began

On July 23, the training program "Environmental Legislation and Water Governance" officially began, as a result of the agreement between the University of Azuay and the Water Fund for the conservation of the Paute River (FONAPA).

As indicated by Miriam Briones, Director of the Continuing Education Department, the initiative is aimed at leaders linked to the conservation of water sources in the area of influence of FONAPA.

“The project has the contribution of both institutions, which already maintain a relationship of cooperation and mutual work. For the Universidad del Azuay it is an important opportunity to continue opening its doors for the continuous training of people with or without a university degree, ”said Briones.

The training program will be completed in no more than five months and its coordination will be under the responsibility of María Cecilia Alvarado. The academic units of the UDA linked to this training program are the IERSE and the Continuing Education Department.

This Thursday began the module on "Environmental Legislation", lasting 33 hours, which will be taught by the Professor of Legal Sciences of the Ana María Bustos University.

The objectives will be to identify essential concepts of environmental law, recognize the different levels and existing competences to guarantee these rights, and analyze national regulations for the management and governance of water as a human right and as a strategic natural resource.

This module will be followed by the "Gender and Human Rights" (21 hours), "Citizen Participation and Water Governance" (21 hours) and, finally, the "Orthophotos Workshop" (25 hours).
