Science and Technology continues to debate the energy transition

On November 22, the second event organized by the Dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology was held to discuss experiences in energy transitions in the country, which had the collaboration of the Ecuadorian Association of Professionals with Studies in the Federal Republic of Germany (AEPEA).

The objective is to understand energy as a key factor for the production and satisfaction of innumerable human needs, in a world that requires a process of transition to a sustainable energy matrix.

Jacinto Guillén, Vice-Rector for Research, reviewed at the beginning of the event the great social transformations that have occurred in humanity that have been sustained by energy transitions, and then stressed the need to abandon the use of energies that produce pollution.

José Jara then spoke about renewable energy in Ecuador, a country that, according to the speaker, has sufficient resources to undertake this energy transition.

Afterwards, German scientist Valerie Graw explained the importance of satellite images for observing our planet and their use to promote sustainable development.

Andrés López, Dean of the Faculty, spoke for his part about the importance of reflecting on daily transport, and new means to avoid pollution.

After the dean, the speaker Miguel Toske explained that only nature is a regenerative and restorative system and, finally, Matilde Urquizo discussed the need to promote knowledge and reflection in the community on these issues.
