Talk about the Origin and Creation of the UDA held on Friday of Knowledge and Culture

On Friday 21 in April the second edition of Friday of Knowledge and Culture was held at the Faculty of Science and Technology, that counted on the participation of several exponents who treated subjects related to each one of the races that conform the Faculty.

This event ended with a talk on "The Creation and Origin of the Faculty of Science and Technology" given by the first rector of the UDA, Juan Cordero Iñiguez.

The historian spoke first about the creation of the University, from its time as the seat in Cuenca of the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Ecuador until its independence in 1990.

Then he referred to the birth of the different Faculties, stopping especially at the origin of Science and Technology -created at 1998- and the evolution of their different careers over the years.

"I hope that the University continues to be faithful to the four fundamental principles that have governed it and I think they should continue, these are: academic excellence first and foremost; Christian humanism, because it is a Catholic university; pluralism, respect for the ideology of all and a functional and practical university extension ", said the speaker.

The first conference of the day had been in charge of Carolina Ormaza, Coordinator of the Plan of Mobility and Public Spaces of Cuenca, and was dedicated to the students of Civil Engineering and Construction Management.

Adriana Peña, head of processes at Mutualista Azuay, then spoke to the students of Production and Operations Engineering about "Process management in service companies".

The students of Biology, Ecology and Management listened to the conference "Guide of mammals of the urban and periurban areas of Cuenca dictated by the researcher of the UDA Carlos Nivelo.

In the afternoon the School of Food Engineering heard Pedro Maldonado, a professor at the National Polytechnic School, to list "alternatives for the use of gluten-free Ecuadorian farinaceous food products and co-products".

Before the conference of Juan Cordero Iñiguez, the School of Engineering in Automotive Mechanics invited Ricardo Goerke, Master in Automotive Engineering, to talk about "Manufacturing Processes in the Automobile and Motorcycle Industry".
