Educommunication campaign "Health and Science"

The pandemic that the world is going through has so far caused the death of 1.023.243 people and Ecuador does not escape this reality, that is why well-founded and reliable information is more important than ever.

This is why the Faculties of Medicine and the Communication departments of the University of Azuay, the University of Cuenca and the Catholic University of Cuenca came together to inform society about Covid19 from a scientific approach, with the aim of counteracting the disinformation circulating on social media.

This educommunication project called "Health and Science" includes informative programs that are broadcast on Sundays at 9 am, through different media such as Tv Academy, radio Ondas Cañaris, university radios and social networks of the three universities.

The program is worked in three segments: the first segment is about information capsules about the jobs and activities that the three universities have carried out since the start of the pandemic in March.

The second segment contains interviews with professionals that are conducted by the journalist María Isabel Peña. Finally, the third segment is directed by Dr. Fray Martínez, a researcher at the University of Azuay, in which society is informed about the statistics and offers advice for future scenarios.

The main objective of the programs is the dissemination of information on the current situation of the disease based on scientific research, with relevant and updated data on treatments, population immunity, vaccines, diagnostic tests, infected patients, recovered patients and mortality.

"Health and Science" already has 5 programs, since its first broadcast on August 30.
