Swiss scholarship for UDA Biology professor project

Boris Tinoco, professor at the School of Biology of the University of Azuay -in collaboration with the University of Cuenca and the WSL Institute of Switzerland- obtained a grant from the Swiss Science Foundation (SNF), which has a budget of $ 500.000 , to run the EXPER-NET project.

EXPER-NET seeks to investigate the best mechanisms for the restoration of biodiversity in montane forests of southern Ecuador.

Hummingbirds are effective pollinators of many plant species in Andean forests, and in this research, experiments related to the role of flowering plant species used by hummingbirds will be carried out to evaluate their usefulness in ecological restoration projects.

"The execution of this project will strengthen the Doctorate and Master's program in renewable Natural Resources at the University of Azuay and the University of Cuenca, through the financing of student projects," said Tinoco.
