Poetry anthologies in Ecuador between 1980 and 2018: presentation of the work

On July 17, the University of Azuay and its publishing house presented the book "Poetic Anthologies in Ecuador between 1980 and 2018: Aesthetic and Literary References" by Jackelin Verdugo. This event is in line with the Sustainable Development Goals.

The event was attended by authorities, faculty and administrative staff from our university community, family and friends of the author, and the general public.

The book presents a critical reading of the poetry anthologies that circulated in Ecuador between the 1980s and the second decade of this century. Its objectives include contextualizing the socio-historical and cultural contexts in which the main anthologies published during that time circulated, and describing and analyzing the textual and paratextual devices employed in their respective assemblages.

The welcoming remarks were delivered by Francisco Salgado, rector of the University of Azuay, who expressed his satisfaction at sharing this moment with those present and celebrating the publication of a book that represents the fruit of significant work, in which art and literature play a key role.

The book was presented by Manuel F. Medina, who emphasized that it examines the textual-discursive and polysystemic structures that comprise it, as well as the role they play within the country's literary and cultural system.

The official launch was led by the author, who noted in her speech that this work responds to the need to systematically understand a partial history. It also proposes a hermeneutical approach to the poetics it contains and to the functioning of the anthological field.
