Alterotopia, a different design proposal

This June 26 was presented before a packed auditorium "Alterotopía, peripheral ways of dressing", a project by Silvana Amoroso, a professor at the Faculty of Design at the Universidad del Azuay, which is part of the research she is doing for her masters.

The professor explained in her speech the rupture of outlines of dress, she says, it represents ephemeral and superfluous features that have inculcated us as "natural".

"Alterotopía" is - in the words of its author - an autobiographical work, since all the pieces created are the product of various thoughts and ideas where different aspects of his life are reflected.

For this reason the work was developed from four "moments" as she calls them, among them the moment "intimacy" and "umbilical", to name two of them.

"Garments contain us, welcome us, dwell in them," Amoroso said, however, through his work, seeks to break these ideas, because within their designs are several garments that have not been created for the purpose of dressing them .

In addition, being her expertise focused on the artistic branch, Silvana Amoroso raised the idea that, although the textile design only focuses on commercial garments, this should not be the case, and her research attempted to "dematerialize the design".

"Alterotopía", term created by the designer, has five pieces. The same can be seen in the installation that will be presented this July 21 at the University of Azuay.
