Entering the field of Neuropsychology

On August 5, a conference on Neuropsychology took place with international speakers to disseminate information on this field of Psychology, whose postgraduate study already has its second version at the University of Azuay.

Neuropsychology is the science that includes the study of both the nervous system and the behavior of people, it is the relationship between these two sciences: psychology and neurology; It refers to a very broad field of action that includes everything from childhood conditions and learning and behavior problems in adolescence to disorders in adulthood such as memory, language and attention failures.

The first speaker was Professor Yulia Solovieva, author of 42 books, 60 book chapters and with more than 63 published articles, who gave a lecture on the importance of neuropsychology and its usefulness in the lives of people in contemporary society.

Then it was the turn of Luis Quintanar, who is a member of the editorial committee Phychology in Russia: State of the Art, Russia.

Both speakers will be professors in the Master's Degree in Neuropsychology at the UDA, together with outstanding professors in the local and national environment, as well as professors from Mexico, Paraguay and Spain.

The program, directed by Alexandra Bueno, makes a journey through the different theoretical currents of Neuropsychology, with the aim of knowing and deepening the proper use of neuropsychological diagnostic instruments, as well as the instruments and methodologies of scientific research that contribute to create elements of prevention that respond to the needs and problems of our reality.

The master's degree is scheduled to be completed in a period of 18 months, including research work for graduation.

The application is open to clinical psychology professionals but also to psychologists in general, educational psychologists and health professionals, as well as doctors, therapists, biologists and other professionals who seek to deepen their research and even continue with doctoral studies, since this program offers that opportunity.

Bueno affirms that the practice and studies of neuropsychology in our country are beginning to open space and both the positioning and the recognition of this important disciplinary field that contributes to the health of society is being sought.

“We want to work on people's behavior, through their brain, that is, to propose activities that will improve and organize brain functioning. Contributing to this science to help improve people's lives ”, Bueno concludes.
