Activities of the UDA Sports teachers

The teachers of the sports area of the Universidad del Azuay, Anabel Barahona and Diego Soliz, have developed in these times of pandemic three activities that appear in the Vida Program.

The first activity was 15 tutorial videos (three videos per week) that began at the beginning of the quarantine with the aim that the university community perform physical exercises aimed at healthy therapy in these moments of isolation, so the sessions used materials which is usually held at home, so that all people could participate.

“We changed our strategy in order to interact with the entire UDA network live and we carried out the second activity, which was on Fridays at 17:00 on Facebook live UDA, in which two types of exercises were carried out: BALLOTHERAPY led by Diego Solís and Functional Exercise directed by myself ", Barahona says.

This activity was in cooperation with Colegio La Asunción and CEIAP, Center for Integral Stimulation and Psychotherapeutic Support.

As a third activity, trainings on sports and health are developed, a space to share scientific knowledge on inclusive topics related to health, sports, physical activity, among others.

"This space is a complement to comprehensive training for students of the optional sports subjects (Soccer, Basketball and Cycling) and a scientific part of the sports society and the general public," Barahona explains.

One of those talks, for example, was on neuroscience applied to football: methodological tools for neuromusucular activation through Zoom through applications such as SwitchedOn, by Professor Solíz.

“SwitchedOn provides random colors, numbers, and arrows that users associate with specific actions or movements, forcing them to perceive, decide, and react faster; this is called training Perceptual Cognitive Motor (PCM) and is designed to improve their physical and cognitive performance, "explains the instructor and adds:

"In soccer classes we specifically carried out technical coordination work where even assignments were sent to students to create training routines and in the end we were able to work using the Zoom platform."
