Community action and social reconstruction

Community action and social reconstruction

The School of Biology and its chair of "Community management of natural resources" organized on May 6 the discussion "The community value in social destructuring."

The talk had an open call and the presence of the students of the School of Biology and of the Chair of Anthropology of the University of Azuay stood out.

José Salcedo was in charge of the presentation, contributing on important topics related to his line of research such as anthropology, the humanist movement, the development of community and intercultural social structures and environmental care, among others.

Through the discussion, principles of conservation of nature and life, as well as human well-being, were disseminated. The talk emphasized the need for community action to achieve anthropological and environmental goals, intimately linking biology with anthropology and the social sciences.

"The main spirit of the organization of this event was the need to guide people in processes that lead them to community action," said the organizer of the event, teacher Joaquín López, and added:

"I make a special call to academics, both teachers and students, and I invite them to become more involved in the current situation in which we live and in their ability to act and analyze the facts." }

For his part, the speaker said that “this is a time of action that aims to rebuild the social fabric; It is important to think and know that we can be promoters of change, fight against nihilism and cynicism ”.

"Let us act and contribute with processes that recognize a community trend," he concluded.

The event ended with a call to the university community to participate, this May 20, in the conference "Biodiversity and human well-being", a national and international event organized with the contribution of seven speakers that honors the International Biodiversity Day May 22.
