40 years transforming lives through education
On November 26, the University of Azuay and its Faculty of Philosophy and Human Sciences held the Solemn Session for the Jubilee Year of the Schools of Education for its 40 years; an event in harmony with the Sustainable Development Goals.
The event was attended by authorities, teachers, administrative staff, students from the university community and the general public.
The event began with a speech by Genoveva Malo, academic vice-rector of the University of Azuay, who expressed her satisfaction with this meeting, which demonstrated four decades of commitment, leadership and tireless work to transform education, not only in classrooms, but in the lives of children, young people, families and communities.
Once her speech was over, the book “40 years transforming education” was launched by Ambar Celleri, coordinator of the Basic Education Schools and the Special Education School, who addressed the audience, pointing out that this anniversary represents both a milestone and an opportunity to remember the path taken and prepare for the challenges to come; she also mentioned that the work presented compiles the history of the Education careers, reflections, pedagogical practices and connection with the community.
For his part, Carlos Guevara, dean of the Faculty of Philosophy and Human Sciences, expressed his satisfaction with these 40 years of experience, in which education has been transformed by placing the human being at the center of society. Throughout these years, these programs have generated spaces for joint reflection, with a special focus on diversity and inclusion, said Guevara.
Subsequently, the career of those who have played a fundamental role as coordinators of the aforementioned courses was recognized by the presentation of an agreement.
Finally, Vicente Córdova addressed those present on behalf of the honorees, emphasizing the role of the educator as a guide to inspire future generations in this beautiful occupational field.
