15 years of institutional life of the School of Architecture

On September 6, the University of Azuay, together with its Faculty of Design, Architecture and Art, held the Solemn Session in commemoration of the 15 years of institutional life of the School of Architecture; an event that is part of the fulfillment of the Sustainable Development Goals, mainly goal 4: Quality Education.

The event was attended by authorities, teachers, administrative staff and students from our university community, authorities from other institutions and the general public.

The School of Architecture seeks a balance between technical training and practical application in real projects. It seeks to go beyond the vision of the architect as an “artist” and focus on collaboration between students and professors to create viable architectural solutions.

The welcoming remarks were given by Francisco Salgado, rector of the University of Azuay, who expressed his pride and satisfaction for the celebration of the 15th anniversary of the program, mentioning that one of the characteristic symbols of the school has been the enjoyment and learning in a collective way.

In turn, Cristian Sotomayor, coordinator of the School of Architecture, addressed those present, pointing out that the school is a set of the collective based on the sum of individualities, where each person plays a role for its perfect functioning.

Once the speeches were over, the School recognized the architecture professors who had completed 15 years of academic work by presenting them with an agreement and a commemorative button.

Finally, Juan Pablo Malo, the first director of the program, spoke on behalf of the honorees, expressing his gratitude and happiness for the School, where he mentioned that his journey through teaching was wonderful.
