12th Latin American Meeting on Design and Food

On October 16, the University of Azuay and its Faculty of Design, Architecture and Art, within the framework of the 40th anniversary of the founding of the faculty, held the "12th Latin American Meeting of Design and Food"; an event in harmony with the principle of care that inspires our university, and the Sustainable Development Goals.
The event was attended by authorities, teachers, administrative staff and students from our university community, authorities and members of the Latin American Network of Design and Food and the general public.
The 12th edition of the Latin American Food Design Meeting invites us to reflect on food practices in different territories, with a focus on the conservation of food ecosystems. This event highlights the richness and diversity of food in Latin America and the importance of valuing and caring for these resources for the future.
The welcoming remarks were made by Francisco Salgado, rector of the University of Azuay, who mentioned the importance of recognizing design and food with identity, ethics and aesthetics; he also pointed out that it is important to conceive food as a fundamental fact that identifies human beings.
Andrés Sicard, general coordinator of the Latin American Network of Design and Food, addressed the audience, pointing out the importance of understanding the design industry as well as the food industry so that together they can emerge and improve living conditions for everyone.
In turn, Jhon Alarcón, coordinator of this meeting, expressed his gratitude for the space provided and inaugurated the event.
Once the opening ceremony was over, the conferences scheduled for this meeting took place.
