The poetry of Sara Vanégas takes the UDA

On October 11, the University of Azuay together with its Publishing House held the launch of the book “Destinos” by Sara Vanégas Coveña at the Hernán Malo Library.

Vanegas, a Cuenca poet and teacher with a long career in literature, brings together 50 poems of his authorship translated into German, English, French, Italian, Romanian and Kichwa. “Destinos” praises the trajectory of language and poetry, in addition to being the fruit of his numerous travels.

Francisco Salgado, rector of the University, expressed his satisfaction with the collection of poems, the result of the author's personal choice. Likewise, Salgado presented his prologue to the work, whose verses have been essential company in some of his personal experiences. Cristóbal Zapata of the Editorial House highlighted the beauty and brevity, which have always been complementary in the works of Sara Vanegas. Definitely, the poet, who was a professor of Literature, Language and Artistic Currents at the UDA for 25 years, demonstrates her vital certainty through her verses.

Subsequently, all attendees were able to hear the poetry directly from the author's voice and the voices of six readers, whose interpretations were made in six different languages.

There is no doubt that poetry is the privileged destiny of language and these releases allow us to celebrate the duality between poetry and teaching in its purest form. The University of Azuay, through these spaces, demonstrates its commitment to art and literature, as they are an essential part of academic excellence.
