The UDA signs an agreement with members of the German Embassy to develop an electric-solar canoe

On May 15, the University of Azuay signed a grant agreement for the "construction of an electric-solar canoe for the indigenous community of Kapawi", the signing was carried out between the Rector of the University of Azuay, Francisco Salgado Arteaga and members from the German Embassy. The development of this agreement meets objective 17: Alliances to achieve the objectives. 

Similarly, the Chancellor highlighted in his speech the transformative impact that this initiative could have on the rivers of the Ecuadorian Amazon, since it seeks to serve the population by demonstrating how science and technology can be powerful tools for the benefit of marginalized communities. . For these communities, these advances can be translated into better opportunities in various areas: education, health and commerce. 

The Rector, to close with his speech, positively underlined that this project will significantly contribute to reducing the carbon footprint, promoting a more sustainable and responsible approach to the environment. On behalf of Germany, Thomas Klatte, honorary consul in Cuenca, emphasized the contribution of technology in the preparation of this large-scale project that seeks to promote development and prosperity. To end his speech, Thomas Klatte indicated that economic support from Germany will always be available, thus reaffirming the solid commitment in search of well-being in the region. 

Finally, Francisco Salgado Arteaga, Rector of the University of Azuay sealed the signing of the agreement. While the Cooperation Attaché of the German Embassy and the Executive Director of the Pachamama Foundation will sign later at the German Embassy in Quito.
