“Art and books on the street”

“Art and books on the street”

On May 4 and 5 at the University of Azuay, the Book Fair was held at the Hernán Malo Library, the organization was carried out by the Publishing House of the University. Similarly, the project "Art and books on the street" was carried out normally, the planning was managed by the following teachers: Mónica Martinez, Julia Avecillas and Diana Lee Rodas, project coordinator.

-This project was born from the idea of bringing literature and books to the streets, neighborhoods and parishes of the city of Cuenca. So we have an "art kiosk" that is in the parking lot, we achieved this with the Cuenca Biennial. And today, thanks to the support of the Publishing House, we are doing a barter. For example: we receive children's and youth stories and for five stories we exchange for a luxury volume of the Historia de Cuenca by the author Juan Cordero- commented Diana Lee.

This, in general lines, is a linkage project that the UDA has planned for the community with the intention of promoting art and culture. This month there will be a visit to Nulti where the "art kiosk" will be installed. In addition, cultural activities have been programmed, such as theater presentations by the Department of Culture and the promotion of reading through various dynamics.

For the future, it is intended to continue promoting this linkage project through the exchange of books and the formation of strategic alliances with other cultural and educational centers in the city.

Finally, we understand that the objective is to promote culture and art in the population, as well as contribute to the social and educational development of the community. With these initiatives, the UDA seeks to generate a positive impact on society and strengthen its commitment to the comprehensive education of its students and society in general.
