A consortium of seven higher education institutions (2 from Ecuador, 2 from El Salvador and 3 from the EU), are working on the creation of a multilingual online portal that will serve as a collection of tangible and intangible cultural heritage of indigenous communities. vulnerable in remote areas.

The UDA is in the project "Educational Portal for Sustainable Cultural Diversity in Latin America - EPSULA", under the direction of Dr. Cecilia Ugalde, this project is part of SDG #17: alliances to achieve the objectives. The institutions of Ecuador and El Salvador will collect and register materials and the European institutions will develop the online portal and educational modules. In the same way, the controls of the materials will be in charge of a Finnish university.

The objective of the project is to improve the situation of vulnerable indigenous communities in remote areas in a sustainable and environmentally friendly way. The project in question is being financed by the European Union through the Erasmus program and is also being co-financed by the seven participating universities. In general terms, the financing of the universities will guarantee the commitment and active participation of each of them in the process.

Dr. Cecilia Ugalde explained to us the participation of the schools involved and the intervention of the students with a long-term view.

-The schools that are involved are Communication and Tourism. This is a project for 3 years and at the moment we will not have the participation of the students due to the difficulty of balancing the schedules. They will get involved later, when we are in the stages of elaboration and testing of materials, in addition, we will have a congress and workshops where the contribution of the students will be very important- commented Ugalde.

Finally, the portal will include educational modules and trainings based on collected materials, which will be used to promote sustainable tourism and strengthen social cohesion in an environmentally friendly way in both countries and beyond.
