Universidad del Azuay honors professors and administrators for 25 years of service in an emotional solemn session

On April 13 at the University of Azuay, a solemn session was held to pay tribute to professors and administrators who have completed 25 years of service at the Institution. The event was developed within the objectives: quality education, decent work and economic growth. 

The board of directors of the solemn session was made up of Francisco Salgado Arteaga, Rector of the University of Azuay; Genoveva Malo Toral, Academic Vice Chancellor; Raffaella Ansaloni, Vice Chancellor for Research and Deans of the Faculties of the University.

The Rector of the University of Azuay, Francisco Salgado Arteaga, began his speech by recalling illustrious characters who were essential for the growth of the Institution, such as Claudio Malo and Mario Jaramillo.

 -They will be permanently with us, because in their daily lives they were able to share a precious gift such as friendship. The friendship that allows the community of those who share a desired end, a guiding principle, philosophy, poetry and ethics to emerge. Without a doubt, they will be with us, because when we sing the national or university anthem, these principles will be present at that moment-said Francisco Salgado Arteaga.

The Chancellor continued to highlight the excellent academics who were honored and the committed administrative staff who work at the University every day, and in every day where creativity arises from the pleasure of working with joy. 

Patricio Cabrera Orellana spoke on behalf of the honorees and began his speech with a brief description of our beloved Mario Jaramillo. -With a serene look and soft speech, I describe Mario Jaramillo Paredes. I believe that all of us who are receiving this tribute entered under his administration... The University is in mourning and pays a tribute on time and justly- said Cabrera. 

Patricio Cabrera continued to underline the time that has passed since many joined and the change that has been experienced with the new study methods and the adaptation that they have had to make. He, in turn, added that his generation has had the privilege of experiencing the amazing changes that have occurred with the turn of the century.

-Find a job that you like and you will stop working for the rest of your life, I say that sometimes when we leave in the morning we don't go to work, we go out to enjoy the events of the students. However, those of us who embrace the profession of teaching, there is only one thing that surpasses this gratifying task, the pleasure of learning- added Cabrera.

In summary, this solemn university session has been a special moment to recognize the hard work of our professors and administrative staff. It has been an opportunity to reflect on the importance of higher education and its impact on our lives and on society in general. We hope that this event
inspire the entire community of the University of Azuay to move forward with confidence, determination and continue to be ambassadors of the academic excellence of our Institution.
