The University of Azuay and companies at the service of society

On April 5, a signing of institutional agreements was made between the University of Azuay
and several institutions of the city. This event was carried out within the objective of
sustainable developments to generate alliances, the agreements signed have different
purposes depending on the institution.
The institutions that signed the agreement with the University of Azuay were: Company
Municipal Public Service of Cemeteries, Vigil and Funeral Rooms of the Canton
Cuenca, Emuce Ep; The Network of Families of Victims of Femicide Foundation, Redfavife;
Center for the Deprivation of Liberty of Azuay; Provincial Federation of Craftsmen
Professionals from Azuay and Los Fresnos Foundation.
Francisco Salgado Arteaga, Rector of the University of Azuay, highlighted the new
relations of the University with said institutions, since they show the vocation to serve
society and help change the lives of many people.
The agreement signed with Diana Aurora Robalino Tapia, General Manager of Emuce Ep, has
as objective the development of the design of the memorial of the fight against violence
towards women and review the architectural design of the project. The work will be carried out by the
architecture and urban planning consultant for the DisLAB design laboratory.
In relation to the Provincial Federation of Professional Craftsmen of Azuay, represented
by Freddy Ramiro Barros Parra, will seek to promote the mechanisms that allow
joint activities of mutual interest such as pre-professional practices, projects of
investigation and connection.
-What are the agreements signed between the University of Azuay and the Federation of
Craftsmen? Will the students have participation? - I consulted.
-We have already had agreements with previous directives, but it ended due to issues such as
pandemic, now we have resumed the idea with the specific agreement that is to repower
the remodeling of our headquarters to make a place where our artisans can
display your products. On the other hand, students will participate in the redesign of the house
to adapt it and in this way make an exhibition hall- commented Barros.

Another signature made was with Ana Fernanda Sánchez, President of the Los Fresnos Foundation,
In this case, the aim is to clean up the diabetes home to provide service and expand the
coverage with patients, to achieve this objective an agreement was reached for the development
architectural in complementary engineering of the house of diabetes.

-How will the participation of the university community be and could you give us more details about the
project? - I asked.
- It is signed to adapt and make the reforms of the new space of the house of diabetes to
make it cozy and easy to access. In addition, it seeks to work with the consulting firm
architecture and civil engineering, because we need the architectural part of design and
plumbing and electric so that people can use this space- commented Sánchez.

Lastly, with respect to the Azuay Deprivation of Liberty Center, its representative
was Jazmín Patricia Palacio, the reason for the relationship with the university is the development of
architectural project of the health center and the headquarters of the special action group
CPL Azuay N1 penitentiary.
