Tourism planning course

On March 11, the course "Expert in tourist planning for territorial development", organized by the Continuing Education Department with the support of experts from the IERSE (Institute of Regime Studies), was presented in the Honor Room of the University of Azuay. In addition to the different departments of the UDA, the course also has the endorsement of the Ministry of Tourism and the Municipal Tourism Foundation for Cuenca.

The objective is to contribute to the strengthening of tourism prospective and management capacities from a multidisciplinary approach and with a local identity, equipping the participant with innovative tools that allow him to apply the basic foundations of tourism planning.

When opening the event, the Rector of the UDA, Francisco Salgado, stressed the importance of "giving the possibilities so that each territory can improve its situation".

"Tourism is a transversal activity that generates benefits in a wide sector of the population," added the Rector.

María Rosa Aguirre, representing the Ministry of Tourism, said for her part that planning is essential in the tourism sector:

"But this cannot be achieved without trained professionals, that is why this course is so important and, above all, the teachers who are going to train these professionals."

To close, Ronald Chaca, academic coordinator of the course, concluded that "we must understand that tourism is very difficult if we do not understand the complexity of the territory where we work."

The course has 200 hours, 120 face-to-face, 40 of virtual work and 40 of autonomous work.
