Discussion on the impact of gender violence

On January 4, in the Hall of Honor of the University of Azuay, data on gender violence in different educational institutions of the country, including our University, were socialized.

The conversation was conducted by Viviana Maldonado, a human rights expert, who explained that this study was carried out together with the German foundation GIZ (The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit) in sixteen institutions in the country. The statistics sought to analyze the attitudes and behaviors that justify violence against women.

In the conversation it was agreed to reinforce efforts against this type of violence and work for a timely detection of these cases.

On the other hand, Francisco Salgado, Rector of the University, commented that `` it is very important to investigate and know how we are in our multiple facets. The University should not be a negative space; if not a place where we can flourish. ''

At the end of the talk, a protocol was submitted to complaints of harassment, discrimination and violence at the University of Azuay.

In this manual, he explains that any member of the University can file a complaint with the Department of Gender, Department of Human Talent and the Rectorate.

The complaint can be made in writing or verbally by electronic or physical means. This must contain the following information: identification of the affected party and the defendant, address and email address, place where the denounced and denouncer perform their activities and a report of the facts.

An investigation process will begin within 48 hours of receipt of the complaint. To start with the data collection, the Rector will create a research committee, it will be made up of three members of the university community.
