Cuenca thinks Quito

On January 24, the event entitled Cuenca Piensa Quito, organized by the Faculty of Design, Architecture and Art of the University of Azuay, was held at the Postgraduate Auditorium. This presentation was organized together with the Municipality of Quito, the Latin American Faculty of Social Sciences, Ecuador headquarters (FLACSO) and other participants.

The reason for the meeting was to create a space for reflection and discussion on the projects carried out by Cuenca teams for the “Special Intervention Plan Contest for the Quito Metropolitan Corridor”. During the day, important professionals and researchers participated who enriched the themes raised within the event.

Genoveva Malo, Dean of the Faculty, addressed those present to open the day:

"It is a space for dialogue and to rethink the city of Cuenca, so we reaffirm our academic condition of creating collective knowledge that is necessary for progress, thinking of Quito and also thinking of Cuenca for the future."

During the day the presentation of the proposals for the contest of the Metropolitan Corridor of Quito elaborated by Cuencans was made, then observations were made on the proposals.

Finally, there was a round table with moderators Fernando Carrión and José Toral, who stressed the importance of conducting this type of competitions for the development of our city.

The next event to be held: Cuenca thinks Cuenca, where - from the norm, theory and practice - discussions, reflections and projects for our city will be raised.
