The Eucharist was celebrated for Christmas at the University of Azuay

On December 20, the Christmas Mass and the blessing of the Divine Child Jesus was celebrated at the General Auditorium of the University of Azuay. The Eucharist was taught by Monsignor Marcos Pérez, Chancellor of our Institution.

The ceremony began with the words of Francisco Salgado, Rector of the University, who said: “This sharing is to thank that in the University of Azuay we have all put our gifts at the service of others so that everyday life becomes joy. Our happiness is born when life and love come together. ”

The first reading was pronounced by Margarita Proaño of the Association of Retirees. The Responsorial Psalm was in charge of Martha Cobos, Academic Vice Chancellor. The second reading was recited by Marcelo Vintimilla, Vice President-elect of the Faculty of Philosophy, and the Gospel was read by Monsignor Perez.

During the homily of the Gospel, Monsignor stressed the importance of preparing spiritually before Christmas and congratulated the University for making the novena before Christmas mass.

He also pointed out that non-liturgical signs such as arranging a manger, performing the Child's Pass or blessing the Divine Child Jesus are manifestations of faith that are part of the popular piety of the people. These acts serve to unite families like the University.

After the liturgical celebration, a video was placed showing several images of the celebrated Novenas and the activities carried out by the University together with MiUDA (Department of Student Welfare of the University of Azuay) and the Dance and Theater Company .

Then, Genoveva Malo - Dean of the Faculty of Design, Architecture and Arts (DAYA) - commented that `` the University lived moments full of happiness thanks to the Faculties, professors and administrative staff that made the novenas and that gave way to a positive atmosphere of union within the University flourishes. ''

For the student of Organizational Psychology, Marcelo Vintimilla, this time of spiritual preparation before Christmas served to remind a living Jesus. For him, this period of Advent meant giving the yes available to continue working within a community as beautiful as the University.

The event ended with the presentation of the musical group The Voices, a dance act by the Dance and Theater Company of the University of Azuay and the delivery of approximately 800 Christmas baskets for teachers, workers and administrative staff.
