A linking project based on a social enterprise
The December 5, in the Service House of the University of Azuay, presented to the community what has been done so far in the Aquamarinna linking project, managed by the UDA in conjunction with the Messengers of Peace Foundation.
On the part of the University, the School of Production Engineering and the School of Food Engineering are linked, which are in charge of productive management and the development and improvement of products, respectively.
Aquamarinna is an artisan soap factory, among its products it has toilet soap, liquid hand soap and liquid disinfectant for floors, all with sanitary registration.
“The main objective is to create a venture that generates economic income that is destined to improve the quality of life of the 32 people with physical and mental disabilities who reside in a farm of the foundation, located in Santa Isabel, La Unión sector, and that, in addition, allow certain beneficiaries to be included in the production process to include them laborally, ”says Sebastián Suárez, project director.
Suarez provides advice on decision making that ensures the sustainability over time of this social enterprise and links students to obtain their 160 hours of relationship with society.
"We are currently developing scientific articles of information that we have raised from the project to generate a model of productive management for social enterprises," added Suarez.
The project has the collaboration of two Spanish volunteers, Ainhoa Mujika and Román Solís, who came to Ecuador in October to join this project and contribute with their work and knowledge. Ainhoa is an expert in logistics and Román in Marketing and Audiovisual Production.
“The project started the 13 of March of 2018 and is in execution until March of 2020, date where we will surely renew the agreement; the December 5 sought to show the community the work we have been doing, which is why we chose to do the event in a symbolic and representative space of the University such as the Community Service House, ”concluded the director of the project.
