TICEC: three days of meeting with information technologies

Between November 27 and 30, the seventh edition of the International Congress of Information and Communication Technologies (TICEC), organized by the Ecuadorian Corporation for Research and Academy Development (CEDIA) and the Faculty of Sciences of the Administration of the UDA.

Among the various presentations on technology at the service of man, one of the main axes was the internet of things, a topic that is present in all smart devices in advanced cities, such as gas meters, noise sensors, sensors air pollutants, motion detectors at traffic lights, cameras, among others.

"These devices generate a large amount of information that needs to be processed to get behavior patterns and reach the knowledge that finally allows us to take actions," said Marcos Orellana, Coordinator of the School of Systems Engineering and event organizer.

In addition to the internet of things, other important issues such as Big Data, Artificial Intelligence, 4G networks and other problems that are becoming increasingly important in the technological environment in which our society develops.

“The congress seeks to form a community with common objectives, to carry out projects that can be of social benefit, apply technology and science and be creators of science and solutions within society,” added Orellana.

In addition to the presentations, the congress had parallel conferences such as internet of things workshops, workshops and meetings of working groups on radio spectrum and tools for artificial intelligence.

“It was an incredible experience because I consider it a space where people from different places met not only nationally, but also internationally; It is the largest research and technology congress in Ecuador, ”said Anaís Parrales, a UDA student and member of the CEDIA team.

To end the first day of the congress, the Cuenca night was held in the courtyard of the Asunción Educational Unit. During the event, there was the presence of the Chapter 2 Orchestra Band, who delighted the attendees with several national successes. Finally, a firework show was witnessed with the traditional crazy cow and the castle.

At the close of the three days of the congress, Orellana concluded that it is important that these events continue to be carried out since the technique and science is not fixed, but evolves and is dynamic:

"Every year there is more development, more science, more technique, and it is necessary to stay updated; congresses could be held every three months because science is evolving at a speed that sometimes what we studied a month ago is no longer useful."
